Montserrat Day Hospitals are proud to operate Queensland Vasectomy Clinics. Our clinics aim to operate the most convenient, professional and pain free experience possible.

We understand that the decision to proceed with surgery of this nature needs to have been thoroughly thought through, and discussions about family planning should have been undertaken. For this reason we are only able to perform this procedure on men that have had a consultation with one of our proceduralists initially. The initial consultation may be performed at the proceduralists offices and will be billed by that clinic.

The Vasectomy procedure will be undertaken at our Gaythorne Day Hospital facility. This is a fully licensed Day Hospital facility and as such you may be covered in part by your private health insurance. You should ask our bookings staff about your particular health insurance policy. We may be able to assist you in determining your level of coverage. Fees & Charges:

Self Insured Patients

• Self Insured Patients will be charged $775 for the procedure ,plus the cost of anaesthetics if required. A medicare rebate of approximately $142.20 can be obtained with your invoice after the procedure from Medicare;
• Mild Sedation which does not require an anesthetist would incurr a fee of $150 for self insured patients.

Insured Patients

• Insured Patients (depending on your level of coverage) will have $0 out-of-pocket cost for the procedure with respect to the Hospital Fees;
• The Surgeon will be paid an out of pocket fee of $99 which he will receive in addition to any amounts paid to him by your health fund;
• Should you require an Anaesthetist there may be some out of pocket costs which will be provided to you in advance of your procedure. Approximately 80% of patients will elect to have the procedure with local anaesthetic only in which case an Anaesthetist is not required;
• If you have an excess or co-payment agreed with your health fund, this will be payable prior to admission and will be taken at the time of booking.

Self Insured Patients will be required to pay a $100 deposit by credit card at the time of booking. If you are fully insured no payment will be required.

Overseas Patients

• Patients who are from overseas and do not hold a valid Medicare card will not be entitled to a medicare rebate on the procedure. The total cost of the procedure for overseas patients, including any form of sedation will be charged at a flat fee of $1,500.

The Procedure:

Open Ended Technique (No Scalpel)

Some of the advantages of this technique are:

• This is a very fast procedure performed without a Scalpel;
• This type of technique has a fast recovery time with a reduced chance of bleeding;
• The tiny 'key hole' opening has a very small level of discomfort.

For those patients who require sedation, the Gaythorne Day Hospital is a fully licensed facility with full anaesthetic capabilities. Our Call Centre staff are also able to talk with ladies and wives about the procedure before booking your husband or partner in.

A Referral from your GP is not required. However, if you have seen your GP and your GP would like to provide us with additional medical history and current medications we are pleased to accept a referral and will be pleased to provide a follow up report to your GP if requested:
