Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery

Gaythorne Day Hospital currently accommodates between 10-15 plastic and cosmetic surgeons who have been granted Clinical Privileges by the Montserrat Credentialing Committee. We perform approximately 600 cosmetic procedures each year including the below:

Breast Augmentation (Enlargement)

Breast enlargement is a procedure designed to enlarge small breasts or breasts that have decreased in size after breast feeding or pregnancy. Breast augmentation can enhance your appearance and self confidence by enlarging your breasts and making them more proportionate with the rest of your body. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and undertaken as a day procedure.

Breast Reduction

This is a surgical procedure to correct the problems associated with large breasts. Breast reduction can improve self esteem, the ability to exercise, and relieve many of the health problems associated with excessively large breasts. This operation attracts a number from Medicare and therefore some of the costs will be covered by Medicare and the patient’s private health fund.

Mastoplexy (Breast Lift)

Mastoplexy is a surgical procedure aimed at lifting and reshaping sagging breasts. This will improve shape, lost by effects of gravity, weight loss and pregnancy. Mastopexy lifts and resuspends the breasts and helps improve your overall appearance and self esteem. Mastopexy is performed under general anaesthesia and undertaken as a day procedure. The operation often attracts a number from Medicare and therefore some of the costs will be covered by Medicare and the patient’s private health fund.

Brachioplasty (Arm lift)

Fluctuation in weight, growing older etc can cause your upper arm to have a droopy and saggy effect. This operation reshapes the under portion of the upper arm, from the underarm region to the elbow and reduces the excess skin and fat between the underarm and elbow.  Brachioplasty can be performed under general anaesthesia or sedation and undertaken as a day procedure.

Facelift

A face lift will rejuvenate your facial appearance by improving the visible signs of aging. The procedure removes excess fat and tightens the underlying muscles and skin on your face and neck. Face lifts are often combined with other procedures such as brow lifts or blepharoplasty. Face lists are performed under general anaesthesia and can be undertaken as a day procedure.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid reduction)

Eye lid surgery rejuvenates the upper part of the face, creating a younger more youthful look. Blepharoplasty is often combined with a brow lift or a facelift to improve the lower part of the face. This can be performed using either sedation or general anaesthesia and can be undertaken as a day procedure.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty reshapes and refines the appearance of the nose. This often involves reducing the size, straightening or changing the tip of the nose. This operation can be done along or in conjunction with internal septoplasty. This can be performed under general anaesthesia and can be undertaken as a day procedure.

Abdomimoplasty (tummy tuck)

This procedure is used to improve the appearance of the abdomen where there is excessive skin, muscle bulging or a combination of these problems. The surgery is particularity helpful to women who through pregnancy have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they cannot return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occur with weight gain, can also be improved.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure designed to correct abnormalities of body shape by extracting excess fat from areas of the body where diet and exercise have been unable to resolve fat deposits. Often these fat deposits can be genetic/inherited problems. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia as a day procedure.
