Fees and Payments

Thank you for choosing Montserrat Medical Services for your healthcare needs. As a private practice group committed to delivering exceptional outcomes, we want our patients to be well informed about the costs associated with their procedure. Below you’ll find important information about our fee structure and payment options.

Privately Insured Patients

Montserrat Medical Services strives to make specialist care both accessible and affordable. All of our specialists are no gap doctors, and we hold contracts with all major health funds. This means if you have adequate private health cover, you won’t pay anything extra other than what you have agreed to on your health insurance policy – which is usually an excess, co-payment or out of pocket expense.

Privately Insured FAQ

If you’ve nominated an excess, this is a one-off payment you make if you need to go to hospital, and is payable before your procedure. Many people select an excess to help reduce their health insurance premiums.

A co-payment is a set amount your insurer may require you to pay for each day you are in hospital. Whether a co-payment applies will depend on your fund and level of cover.

An out-of-pocket expense is any amount remaining after your health fund has paid its portion of your bill. It’s best to contact your health fund to see if your policy offers options to reduce or eliminate this gap.

Yes. Montserrat will complete an eligibility check with your health fund to confirm your cover and provide an all-inclusive quote for your procedure.

Yes, it is best to also confirm directly with your health fund that you are covered for your booked procedure, as waiting periods or pre-existing conditions can sometimes affect coverage.

In some cases, if an external anaesthetist that is not part of the Montserrat Medical Services group is engaged for your procedure, a separate anaesthetist fee may apply. We do our best to manage this and minimise your out-of-pocket costs, though occasionally this is outside of our control.

Uninsured/Self-funded Patients

We understand that many people in our communities do not hold private health insurance. If you are uninsured, you can still access high-quality specialist care without sitting on the public wait list and deferring your treatment.

Our Patient Services Team can provide a competitive all-inclusive quote—covering your specialist, hospital stay, and anaesthetist fees. We believe our self-funded rates are highly competitive for the standard of care we deliver and encourage you to enquire today.
