Dr Hung qualified as a General Surgeon is 2014, and has since spent the majority of his career providing care in regional settings. He appreciates the variety and complexity of cases that general surgery offers, and has developed a breadth of skill not commonly seen amongst surgeons.

Dr Hung’s journey from rural Taiwan to metropolitan Melbourne culminated in his acceptance at Melbourne High School, followed by his medical studies at the University of Melbourne. He earned his MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) in 2003 and completed surgical training at Austin Health, including rotations throughout Victoria, Tasmania, and Alice Springs. Dr Hung achieved Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014. Currently, he serves as a Staff Specialist General Surgeon at Bundaberg Private Day Hospital, finding great reward in his work within a regional healthcare setting.
Dr Hung approaches patient care with honesty, earnestness, and compassion. He utilises his skills to alleviate pain and suffering, prioritising patient communication to ensure clarity and understanding. Known in Bundaberg as the ‘polyp farmer’ for his meticulous and routine removal of polyps during endoscopic procedures, Dr Hung’s clinical and surgical approach is both careful and thorough.
Rapid Access Endoscopy allows eligible patients to schedule their procedures directly, bypassing the initial specialist consultation when appropriate. Dr Hung strongly advocates for this approach, which promotes early diagnosis and prioritises patients with positive results from Australia’s National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
