Dr Peter Ko is a specialist gastroenterologist with an interest in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He works as a senior staff specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Peter graduated from medical school in 2007 and completed his specialty training in South Korea. During this time, he completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in internal medicine.
Peter has been working as a consultant gastroenterologist since 2013 and achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2019. He has strong interest and extensive experience in treating large and complicated polyps and has a demonstrated track record of excellent outcomes.

Originally from Ireland, Dr Maguire gained her medical qualifications at the University College in Dublin in 1988 prior to commencing her Gastroenterology training in Dublin in 1992. She did her clinical research in the field of Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary before immigrating to Australia in 1996.
Dr Maguire worked at the Liver Transplant Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) followed by the Mater Adult Hospital before qualifying as a Gastroenterologist in 1999, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians.

Dr Moattar completed his Medical Degree with Distinction in 2004 and since then, he has worked in various hospitals both in the United Kingdom and Queensland. In 2016, he completed his Gastroenterology & Hepatology Fellowship after being trained at the Mater Adult Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Townsville Hospital.
After completing his general Gastroenterology Fellowship, Dr Moattar worked as an Inflammatory Bowel Disease Fellow at the foremost IBD Centre – the Fiona Stanley Hospital, in Perth, Western Australia. This helped to expand his experience and skill in managing complex patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He uses his clinical and interpersonal skills to optimise patients’ care and quality of life in close collaboration with IBD nurses, dieticians, colorectal surgeons, clinical psychologists, and radiologists.
Dr Moattar enjoys keeping abreast of the latest developments and research in Gastroenterology. Dr Norrie received The New Zealand Young Investigators Award in 2002 for his PhD research into gene methylation in colorectal biology carcinoma. He has been widely published in the past 20 years, writing numerous papers on colorectal cancer, in addition to improving gluten tolerance in celiac disease.
Volunteering & Mentoring
Dr Norrie volunteers annually with ANZGITA (the Australian & New Zealand Gastroenterology International Training Association), providing his services and expertise in developing countries including Myanmar, Fiji, and, more recently, the Solomon Islands. In addition to having his research article on Chronic Radiation Proctitis management published in the Journal of Tropical Medicine, Dr Shrivastava has received several awards. His research paper on Hepatobiliary intervention was adjudged the best National Paper at the Indian Society of Gastroenterology National Conference in 2003. Dr Shrivastava was also awarded the Best Outgoing University Student in Gastroenterology in 2005.
Mentoring

Dr Linus Chang has been a consultant gastroenterologist since 2010. He has special interests in high quality surveillance colonoscopy, monitoring of gastric intestinal metaplasia to detect early stomach cancer and Hepatitis B. He has special expertise in endoscopic ultrasound which is used to clarify intestinal subepithelial lesions, and pancreaticobiliary disease.
He undertook his gastroenterology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Townsville. He had further subspecialty training in endoscopic ultrasound and its role in the diagnosis and staging of upper gastrointestinal cancer at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth in 2009 with further periods of observation and hands-on training at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, USA and St Luc Hospital in Montreal, Canada.
Dr Chang was formerly staff specialist at the Mater Hospital Brisbane and lecturer with the University of Queensland.
