Before the Procedure Date:
- Check time, date and place of procedure
- Ensure you have allocated the entire day for your procedure
- Arrange transport home – you will not be able to drive and you will need someone to stay with you for 12 hours afterwards
- Prepare as per the nurses instructions
- Ensure that you have read and followed all instructions relevant to your procedure
Day of Your Procedure
- Bring regular medications that you would normally be due to take
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- Leave jewellery and valuables at home
- Do not wear contact lenses
- Bring anything required to pay your account (if not already done)
- Supply the name and contact number of your pick-up person
After Your Procedure
- Do not drive for the specified time afterwards
- Ensure a responsible adult is able to remain with you for 12 hours
- Read discharge instructions given to you at the time of discharge
- Contact your surgeon for any further information you require
